After I did Superhero Sundays and Supervillain Sundays, I did Supernatural Sundays, so here I have three aliens that have supernatural powers:

Wise Chargan

Planet Gurx is a world where knowledge is highly valued and collected, but sometimes forbidden knowledge has escaped the records and now only exists in the minds of those who call themselves “The Wise”. Chargan is one of the wisest Strondovarians in this sense, full of occult knowledge that is too dangerous to be made public. Chargan employs a small army of loyal subjects who infiltrate all sections of Strondovarian society and keep Chargan informed if any important “secret” information should be discovered. When that happens, everything in Chargan’s vast power is done to make sure that information is lost anew.

The project to create a New Gurx, a giant replacement planet for the tiny homeworld, is secretly being financed and led by the Wise. They have had their secret employees filling the interior of the planet with occult runes with meanings unknown even to those employees.
Universe: Blue

Dark Victor

Centuries ago, the planet Jinnar was ravaged by wizards who wanted to wrest control of the planet from the technology-based governments that had ruled for so long there. A long war resulted, which left that planet in ruins, but at least the wizards were wiped out. That is, save one. A single one of those wizard found terrible secret ways to cheat death. So now, as the only remaining survivor on either side, that one wizard can safely declare himself the Dark Victor of the war. But even having survived, the Dark Victor did have to leave Jinnar to find a better place to recover. The Victor now roams from planet to planet, haunting the cosmos as a magical alien ghost monster, occasionally attempting to take over some other nice species. It’s a good gig, but it also makes him a prime candidate to be hunted by Konwaag the Magic Hunter.

Haphaff

There was a time when otherworldly beings were present on the planet Dellwell and they were worshipped as gods. Though those beings seem to have left the world, their traces remain, but none more strong than Haphaff, who claims to be descended from those very beings. Essentially this makes Haphaff a demi-god, and his strength and durability seem to agree with that assessment. Though boisterous, Haphaff has not drawn too much attention to himself over the years, but there are elements working on the planet who would like to get their hands on him.

I didn’t mention it when I did the Dellwellians’ profile, but this is a species that was one I found among my notes from back in my youth. It was just two pages, one with a few Delwellian “superheroes”, and the other with the Dellwellian religion. Haphaff was the thing combining the two. I maybe thought it was clever that the species is hunched over normally, but this example of a more “bestial” Dellwellian stands upright, a reverse of how that might go with humans.

Juka the Deadly

Planet Szunkring is full of advanced technology, but few are more advanced than Juka the Deadly. Juka is from a Szunkrun culture that believes a person only really has power if their technology is inside them, and therefore eschews the robots and devices that other Szunkruns use to make their lives easier. But Juka has developed the planet’s most advanced nanotechnology and has injected it in his own body. Now with all sorts of powers over electricity and magnetism and the like, Juka wages a war against all the machinery and robots of the rest of the world, thus coming into conflict with the hero Montoroloxi the Magnificent. Juka would be a different kind of enemy for Montoroloxi, whose regular opponents are just corrupt businesspeople and their enforcers.

Revengulon

The alien criminal mastermind/warlord/villain called Revengulon is a recurring foe of the superhero called Noblewoman. At some point, Noblewoman stopped one of Revengulon’s evil schemes in deep space, so now, befitting their name, Revengulon pours all sorts of resources into getting revenge. Revengulon has used all sorts of tactics (armies of robotic soldiers, hired alien mercenaries, giant mechs, anything at all) in attempts to defeat the hero and conquer or destroy the Earth (depending on Revengulon’s mood).

If I got around to doing stories for Noblewoman, Revengulon would mostly be a running joke. If I need a story to start with some action, or if there has to be an ongoing fight outside while the real plot is going on inside, those are the kinds of places where Revengulon would allow me an easy set piece.

Starcleaner

Every now and then a being is born with a connection to the multiversal axes, allowing them vast mystical abilities. These are the types of individuals that the Order of Wallfixers seek out and try to recruit. But the vastness of the cosmos means that they can’t reach them all and set the on the right track. The Starcleaner developed its powers all on its own and has set about using them in whatever way it wants. Oddly, the way it wants to use its powers is this: The Starcleaner will bring itself to a new universe and find a star it likes. It will then proceed to remove anything that orbits the star, including comets and asteroids and even inhabited planets. The Starcleaner has never made any effort to communicate its mission, but as far as anyone can tell, the mysterious creature just prefers the appearance of stars with nothing around them and doesn’t care if it has to kill whole species to get it just right. This use of its powers does not actually damage the walls of reality, since the damage is contained within the universes the Starcleaner visits, but the Wallfixers still consider it an enemy because they recognize it must be stopped.

If I’m going to be doing another year of creating aliens, and I am, I am going to have to mix it up from time to time to keep my interest up. This month, I’m going to retrace my steps, going through all the previous Super Sunday themes, but with aliens. This week, Superheroes:

Power Pllvm

A young Pllvm named Vmplupl was roaming through a coral forest one day when she discovered a cave that she had never seen before. Looking inside, she found a glowing rock that pulsated with otherworldly energy. Though fascinated by the sight of the beautiful stone, Vmplupl soon fell unconscious. When she awoke, she had drifted some way away from the cave, only to return and find the rock gone. The energy of the stone, however, seemed to live on inside Vmplupl’s body. She soon discovered that she had gained amazing speed, strength, durability, and other powers. Using these powers to fight crime and avert disasters, Vmplupl has become known as the Power Pllvm, a champion for the downtrodden and the weak.

Graats

Graats is the product of selective breeding and experimental nurturing and the best training that money can buy. He is the ultimate Dellwellian soldier, the very peak of combat on this world. Graats served as a loyal grunt for the army that created him, but only because they were fighting enemies that he decided were worthy of being fought. Once they tried to send him against foes that seemed innocent. After that, Graats chose to leave the army and if they thought they could stop him, he said, they were welcome to try. Now Graats makes it his business to bring down criminal organizations that specialize in things like assassination.

Shrog Manthott

Shrog Manthott is a member of the Myriad Worlds Police Service, which is a law-enforcement agency that not only serves many planets, but also traverses universes to make sure no multi-universal threats can rise to threaten all of existence. Armed with a highly durable shield (that contains incredible computing) devices and a whip-like weapon/restraint that responds to his thoughts, Manthott can face all manner of supervillainous threats. Manthott is a no-nonsense, business-minded, by-the-books cop and respects jurisdiction, so when travelling to a world that is not under MWPS purview, such as Earth, his abilities are limited. But that doesn’t mean he’ll give up. Shrog Manthott will keep doing his job until the moment he dies.

Universe: From beyond the Local Multiverse, but living in Universe White

Humans

The planet Earth is home to a race that calls itself “Humans”. They are a bipedal mammalian species with two eyes and front limbs that end in five-fingered appendages. They have spread all over the planet, numbering nearly ten billion, and have built city in every type of climate the planet has available. They’ve developed a decent amount of technology, definitely enough that they could be colonizing other worlds, but a vocal amount of humans consider space exploration a “waste of resources” and so instead they’ve focused more on the technologies that help them kill each other.

Several characters who have shown up on Super Sunday before are humans. This includes Bella Harrison, Dan Hastings, Elsa Geheimnis, Jo Melville, and of course, Epic Bro. But that isn’t all. I’ve actually hidden references to “humans” in my Super Sunday stuff since the very beginning. I bet nobody could find them all.

Kyle Durning is an albino, which is a rare condition that effects some Earth creatures, causing them to be born without pigmentation. While this makes him extra sensitive to sunlight, but this hasn’t been much of a problem, because Kyle has just stuck to working night jobs. Currently, he is a security guard working overnight shifts. Some of his co-workers can be scared of deserted buildings in the darkness, but Kyle has never found the night to be anything but comforting.

The daughter of a prominent news anchor, Elizabeth Oickle has lived a decently well-off life so far. In a country called Canada, she has just recently graduated from university after studying various things that she didn’t actually care about. She is now taking a year off to travel the world and “become wise” before she decides how she actually wants to spend her life. Really, though, she wants to spend her life travelling the world and becoming wise. People, her father included, think that is a cop-out answer that she needs to grow out of, but is it really? Elizabeth doesn’t think so.

Rebecca Shirley is the kind of human who the rest of them are kind of embarrassed about. She has devoted her life to trying to help those less fortunate than her. She has created a business in her home town that lets people make their case as to why she should help them. She almost always take the case. Obviously this is not a highly profitable business model, and so far it is only the charity of those she has helped that keeps her from starving. Still, this is how Rebecca chooses to live her life and she will do so until she has fixed the world or starved to death while trying.

A Fact About Humans: Some humans are Beekeepers. This is a special class of humans who have trained to work with an insect species known as “bees”. The beekeepers protect the bees and the bees work to create things like honey. Clearly this particular subsection of humanity is the most impressive.

Here’s the thing: I have really enjoyed making a bunch of aliens. I enjoyed it so much that I have enough left over to do another year of it. So I am. 2017 will also be an Aliens Sunday thing. (I already have them scheduled and everything.)

I’ve spent a lot of Sundays now developing alien races and the year is coming to an end. Is it time for PDR to do something different? Well, if it is, I’m going to ease myself back to those “human” things by looking at a couple that have been interacting with aliens.

Alien Abductees

Dan Hastings is a university student who has a part-time job at a grocery store. If he were asked, he’d probably say he was a pretty ordinary guy. The truth is, though, that Dan has trouble sleeping. For as long as he can remember, he has had dreams of strange beings surrounding him and doing strange things to him while he can not move. At least, he tells himself that they’re dreams, though he believes that they are real. What Dan doesn’t know is that the beings who have been doing this are a Strondovarian science crew that orbits the planet in a secret station and is experimenting on Dan’s mind. The first Strondovarians to discover the planet they are interested in testing the limits of the human mind by giving Dan Hastings mental powers like telepathy to see what he does with them.

Unlike Dan, Paula Parker has not returned to Earth after she was abducted. Paula was only seven years old when she went missing during a family picnic. Her family never got any closure to her disappearance, because she had been stolen by an alien who had created a wormhole to reach the Earth, taken the child and left. The abductor, whose purpose Paula never learned, was a large creature with advanced technology but never expected that the child could be a threat. Paula lashed out at her kidnapper, smashing a piece of alien equipment and causing an explosion. The alien died, leaving Paula stranded at the alien’s headquarters on an apparently otherwise empty world. Paula survived, learning what she could of the alien technology. She eventually figured out how to use the wormhole device, but had no idea how to tune it back to Earth. She had adventures on many strange planets and met many strange peoples, none of whom had any idea what humans were or where they came from. The universe is large and finding a single planet in it is near impossible if you don’t know where to start. Paula had to give up on ever seeing her world again, and for over a decade has fought for her survival among the stars.

It must be noted, however, that humans aren’t the only ones who are getting stolen by weird forces from beyond their homeworld. Carmohka is a Hivrhin One, the strongest warrior of her city, perhaps of the entire planet. She was participating in a plan to raid a neighboring city’s Queenhouses, if the mission had been successful, her city would have become the dominant power in their hemisphere. But without warning, while en route to the job, a strange flying craft appeared above Carmohka for just a moment, and Carmohka vanished. Her allies never got any explanation, her superiors had to assume she’d become a coward and fled. Even Carmohka doesn’t know the truth, because as soon as she was aboard the strange craft, she was placed in suspended animation by her captors, an alien race intent on capturing the best warriors and preserving them for a threat they predict will arrive in the future.
