Super Sunday! The Volcano Rabbit

Pedro was born into a family of established superheroes who all took animal-themed costumed identities. The Family Animalia was founded by Pedro’s grandparents and was quite successful back in the day. Pedro’s parents, aunts and uncles were the high point of this team, saving the world a handful of times, but Pedro’s generation has mostly abandoned their noble traditional vocation. Pedro’s cousins are mostly content to live off their celebrity, his sister has opted out of a dangerous action-filled life to serve as the tech support to the Team of Superheroes. Pedro alone remains an active participant in the fight against crime as the grim vigilante called: The Volcano Rabbit. Some call him obsessed, but none can deny that his fast feet and fiery fists have brought down more than their share of criminal scum.

I first conceived of this guy when I was thinking of the background of Rosita from the Hover Head stories (It is worth noting that even a character like Rosita, who has appeared in roughly two pages to date, I have put a lot of thought into. I’m obsessed with this stuff, but very slow with the output). She was once Techtudinidae, a superhero in turtle-shaped high-tech armor, and from there I got to the idea about the family of animal-themed heroes. After that it was a natural progression to make one of them based around one of my favorite species of animal. Naturally, since the universe with Hover Head is my most overtly comical superhero universe, I had to make the guy based around the cute and harmless critter a badass Batman-style guy.

This is Dog-Thing

That guy up there? That’s Dog-Thing. I created him for an art project in Junior High, but I no longer have that project. The only thing I remember about it was that his arch enemy was the Technicolor Spoon.

Since only one uncolored sketch of the character remained, I have only the vaguest memory of what color he was. But working with that memory I whipped up this picture. But every Dog-Thing has his day. And that day is today as I let bring him to the Book of PDR.

I also don’t remember if there was an origin for Dog-Thing, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I never bothered to explain what he was or where he came from.

This is Paco McZap

This guy is Paco McZap. He’s a lazy wizard from the Wrong Alternate Universe.

Previously on the Book of PDR:

Back in early 2009 the computer I owned was very virused-up and went and died. A tragedy to be sure, but the part that stings the most is that I had been writing a book and had none of it backed up outside of that computer. While most of the book was meant to be a collection of short stories from back in the Contains2 days it was framed by a sequence starring none other than the gentleman above.

Paco McZap was a young man who was discovered to have great potential as for magic, but as it turned out he was stupid and had a very “when am I ever going to need that” attitude towards his studies so he just became a lazy wretch who used magic to summon pizza delivery men to his tower quicker. I was quite pleased with how my attempt to tell his life story had been going so I am reluctant to try again because I don’t think I’d do it as well, but I’ve not forgotten him altogether. To prove this, I have drawn a picture of him. There you go.

Hey! It’s Adventure Dennis ON THE INTERNET!

Adventure Dennis drawing. Granted, he was on the Internet before, but now he is also available as a torrent on Demonoid. Since that story is about the only complete thing I’ve finished and put online, I thought it would be good to get it out somewhere where someone might actually accidentally read it.

Paradoxically, I hope it doesn’t accidentally lead people to know I exist because then I might feel bad when I don’t make more things…

Updated: I guess it is a full on Adventure Dennis day over here. Inspired by the upload I whipped up a quick drawing of Adventure Dennis himself in a different style which can be seen to the left there.

Furthermore, Marq has given a high-tech upgrade to the Adventure Dennis comic page and it is now like seventy-seven times more awesome than it was when it was just a whole bunch of pictures one after the other. It actually seems way too spiffy to be on this website, but I’ll take it!

And I’ve uploaded two Adventure Dennis desktop wallpapers. One is from back in the Contains2 days and is 1024×768 and another is newer and 1366×768.

This is C.W.

Shooting Time has just finished.

This is C.W. He is a soldier in the Space Army. He appears to have some kind of eye-stalk in a jar for a head. He is a shapechanger, but tends to forget that because he prefers to solve his problems with shooting. I invented him back in Junior High. He appears now for the first time in color.

I present this drawing as my first attempt at working on a Wacom Bamboo Fun Tablet Drawing Machine. It allows me to draw right on the computer without hassle like scanning getting in my way. And I don’t seem to draw a whole lot worse than I do on paper. When I get more practice and if I took more time I bet I could even draw pretty acceptably. Time will tell, I suppose.

(The background was not drawn by hand. I just whipped that up quick so it wouldn’t look so empty. As for why the cacti are so close to the horizon? I’m going to assume there is a cliff right there. Yeah.)
