2013 Ender

Behold! The Dark Lord Char’Nagh arises and reviews our lives for another year! Are you confident that he will not find you wanting? You still have a few hours, so use them imploring his mercy! You do not want to face the wrath of Char’Nagh!

2013 went by too quickly for my liking. I didn’t feel like I really got a chance to slow down and do anything other than work and school. Maybe it wasn’t as bad as it felt, but it felt bad. On the plus side: I like my job a heckuva lot more than I have any other job I’ve had in decades, and I’m still doing reasonably well in school. Still, I could use a nice break in which I could do more things not related to school or work. I had planned on taking Summer classes, but I’m not so sure now.

Anyway, that’s it for me this year.

Book it!

Ooooohhhhkay. Detective Made Easy, the latest of John Swartzwelder novel about Frank Burly is out. As is tradition in the Nation of PDR, this means it is National Bookorderin’ Day! That’s the day when I’m supposed to get all kinds of the books I want to read in a single order from the Internet. Here’s the thing, though. I was already given Dave Barry’s Insane City and Max Barry’s (no relation) Lexicon for my birthday, so I don’t need that much. And to make it worse, just today I noticed an email from school saying that the Comics and Cartoon’s class I am starting next week will has changed professors and, with that, changed the books we need to read for the class. This means that four of the books I got and read over the Summer are now unnecessary and I will have to get and read other books for class. Ugh.

So anyway, the moral of the story is that I’m getting Detective Made Easy for National Bookorderin’ Day, but apart from that, it’s all about school.

2012 Ender

Oh hey, I guess another year is gone. Hey 2012, get outta here!

I guess that this was a pretty game-changing year for PDR, what with the quitting my job and going back to school thing. That’s the sort of thing that makes a year notable.

And naturally, the world didn’t end. As if the Dark Lord Char’Nagh would ever let the world end without his approval.

So everybody listen up here’s the plan: Let’s not mess up 2013. Let’s have a good year.

The Unemployed PDR

Well, for the first time in the history of this website, I am not employed at the newspaper job. Last night was my last night. Today I am throwing out a bunch of work clothes. I will not miss that job, but I hope that the place is not too unkind to the people I have left behind in the time that they remain employed there (Though I don’t predict a lot of years remaining in that place).

So the question is, “now what?” I’ve got to find a way to pay rent, of course, so I’m pretty much required to start finding some sort of part time thing. I guess that as soon as these holiday things are over, I’m handing out resumes. It’s been a long time since I’ve done that. Anyway, I’m off school until the Seventh of January, so I’ve still got a few weeks where I will have the time to look, though ideally I’ll be able to find something quickly so I will have some time left over before classes that I can get a few things done for the site.

Haiku!

You have to pay rent
or you don’t deserve to live
you witless bastard.

If any rich people and/or wizards are listening, I will again put forth my assurance that I am willing to take up to half your riches. It’s easy to unburden yourself with PDR’s help! Remember that.

Good Thing I’ve Got, Like, No Audience

Tomorrow’s page of Secret Government Robots is not going to be done on time. I figure I’ll put it up in the Saturday slot. It’s still two in the one week, so it isn’t like I’m falling desperately behind. I didn’t want to be missing days now that I’ve started another storyline, but it isn’t too bad. I’ll still be hitting my arbitrary weekly amount, just on a different day, right?

It’s just that I’ve got these two essays due tomorrow and they are stealing my time. And one of them is going to be crappy anyway. Oh well. In a few weeks I’ll be at the Christmas break portion of the year and I’ll have time to get the whole current SecGov story done in one go, I hope.
